(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) European Union foreign ministers began a meeting here Monday which will be focused on the fight against terrorism following last Friday's attacks in Paris. Speaking to reporters ahead of the meeting EU High Representative Federica Mogherini said that the international community has "a new sense of urgency" to fight terrorism."We need to find a way to end the war in Syria and defeat Daesh" she said and added that in today's meeting they will discuss what to do to respond to the attacks in Paris the ones in Beirut on the Russian plane in Egypt in Turkey Syria and Iraq."Our work is already centered in fighting DAESH will all possible means and its ramifications everywhere and also terrorism in other parts of the world such as Africa" she said. (Daesh is the Arabic term for ISIL).On his part Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of Luxembourg Jean Asselborn whose country holds the current EU Presidency said "we have a common enemy a barbaric and brutal enemy in Syria Iraq and Libya this enemy known as ISIS is an enemy for European values and above all to France. We must focus on fighting this enemy with all democratic and military means".He added that EU foreign ministers will discuss today with UN special representative to Syria Staffan De Mistura on ways to find a solution to the Syrian crisis."We need to be very careful in this debate not to mix migration with terrorism. Terrorism means fighting against barbarism migration is about Europe's humanism mixing these two is a capital mistake" he added.Meanwhile Belgian Foreign Minister Didier Reynders said "we have 30000 foreign fighters in Syria and Iraq for the moment coming from 100 different countries so we will try to go further with the collaboration with the French authorities and exchange more and more intelligence because it is the only way to find the people with such a high level of radicalization"."We will also discuss with our colleagues the political solution in Syria an Iraq how it is possible to stop the war there" he added.
