Turkey- IMF chief sees potential in Islamic financing


(MENAFN- The Journal Of Turkish Weekly) International Monetary Fund (IMF) Managing Director Christine Lagarde has said that she sees potential for growth in Islamic financing.

In remarks made during a session of the Business 20 and Labor 20 meetings under the G20 Summit in Turkey’s southern Antalya province Sunday Lagarde said that it is very important to support Islamic financing which may have a very important role for growth.

She also condemned the Paris attacks that left over 125 people dead Friday night. She called for the next G20 Summit to be held in Paris.

The IMF chief also highlighted the importance of infrastructure projects in the short and long term growth for a country. She called on G20 nations to continue their focus on infrastructural investments such as bridges highways schools and hospitals which also create employment opportunities.

Turkey is hosting leaders of 20 major economies in its southwestern province of Antalya on Sunday and Monday for the 10th summit which has been discussing the world's biggest political and security crises including Syria and the mass migration of refugees.
