UAE- Honouring of pioneers a noteworthy step: paper

ABU DHABI 16th November 2015 (WAM) -- A UAE paper has said that a winning society is one where valuable contributions of individuals are acknowledged and excellence is rewarded.

"In that sense the citizens and residents of the UAE are lucky that the leadership recognises this fact and provides everything to achievers so as to enable them to achieve excellence become leaders in all fields and turn out to be ambassadors for the country" said Gulf Today in an editorial on Monday.

The honouring of 44 distinguished personalities during the UAE Pioneers Award 2015 event organised in Dubai as part of the 44th National Day celebrations takes the effort one step further and is certainly a morale-booster for the achievers.

Innovation and progressive approach are what have elevated the UAE among the world’s best nations. The event is sure to ignite more enthusiasm among the youth to strive for brilliance in their academic and social endeavour.

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai mentioned recently that the UAE is the world’s top destination for talent.

Talented people are drawn to the UAE even from developed countries to utilise their skills as the country has accomplished higher ranks on international scales providing the opportunities sought and an environment favourable for such professionals.

The 44 personalities who have been honoured are UAE pioneers who specialised in varied fields such as education health innovation technology sports arts culture media and philanthropy as well as government and military sectors and distinguished initiatives.

They all well deserve the adulation. As Sheikh Mohammed himself said "They are our pride and honouring them is a thank-you message from the Emirati people for their devoted efforts. We have had pioneers in every Emirati home in the UAE since the early times. They are the individuals who we can count on to lead the UAE’s effort to achieve top rankings in all fields and our ambassadors to the world."

The UAE has shown that the business of reversing the brain drain is also the business of creating a better life for citizens.

The popularity of the award could be gauged by the fact that during the nomination period which began earlier this month and lasted for ten days the committee receivedmore than 2600 entries through the website of the initiative.
