Turkey's first lady urges advanced countries to deal with refugees equally

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) Turkey's First Lady Emine Erdogan called on advanced countries Sunday to maintain highest moral standards when dealing with refugees.
"I cannot as a mother accept the drowning of children in the sea, losing their lives trying to cross the barb wires," Erdogan said in a speech before a meeting of the woman committee, held on sidelines of the G20 summit in the southern city of Antalya.
Children and women are the most affected by the humanitarian crisis of refugees, she said. "What can a refugee carry in his bag but fear and the unknown?" she asked.
She called for ceasing of discrimination against refugees. She said the mother who fled the war zones was risking her life for the sake of her children.
Erdogan thanked the Turkish presidency of the G20 for forming a committee dedicated for businesswomen, ultimately aimed at boosting equality.
