US Amazon thrives upon expanding Indian market

(MENAFN) E-commerce giant Amazon.com is taking lessons learnt from its daily battles with India's clogged roads and overcrowded cities to some of its largest developed markets.

Accordingly, these lessons translate into a well-studied model of cheaper deliveries and decreased warehousing costs, which is then exported and implemented on the routines of major cities.

Furthermore, online shopping is thriving in India, where millions of consumers are newly able to access the Internet thanks to cheap smartphones, plus it houses Amazon's largest newly added users' ratio.

E-commerce in India is projected to hit a whopping USD137 billion by 2020 from USD11 billion in 2013, and firms like Amazon, local market leader Flipkart and rival Snapdeal, are fighting for a larger share.
