Qatargas 'Contractor Forum' focuses on local market development


(MENAFN- Gulf Times) Qatargas recently hosted its annual Contractor Forum, which brought together the company's key contractors under the theme 'Partnering for sustainable growth'. The event held at the Qatar National Convention Centre was held with the objective of supporting and developing the local market and encouraging two-way communication.
The theme, Qatargas said "underlines the great value" it places on its "partnership with suppliers and service providers," who play a key role in its success.
Launched two years ago, the Qatargas Contractor Forum brings together contractors and suppliers to share their experience and learning, benefiting them and Qatargas alike. The forum also provides a unique opportunity for the suppliers and contractors to learn about future business opportunities, Qatargas' expectations as well as strengthen mutual relationships for the benefit of the broader community.
Addressing the forum, Qatargas Chief Operating Officer (Operations) Ahmad Helal al-Mohannadi said, "We have launched this Contractor Forum two years ago to reinforce the importance of two way communication and to strive for sustainable growth. This forum provides transparency as well as opportunity to our contractors to see our project plans and Qatargas expectations.
"We reinforce our support to the local market, in line with the Emiri Decree and the Qatar National Vision (QNV) 2030. At the same time, we want to encourage healthy competition. Qatargas Chief Operating Officer (Finance) Garry Looker welcomed the participants to the forum, which was also attended by representatives from leading Qatari banks that directly contributed to the local market development.
They included Qatar Development Bank, QNB, QIB, Doha Bank, Commercial Bank, Masraf Al Rayan, Al Khaliji, Barwa Bank, Ahlibank and QIIB.
"The participation of the banking community was ensured to facilitate positive interactions with the contractors aimed at enhancing their financial capacity to successfully undertake projects," Qatargas said.
Abdul Aziz Nasser al-Khalifa, Qatar Development Bank chief executive officer, delivered a speech highlighting the need for developing and supporting local small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and participating in building a strong local SMEs sector in line with the QNV 2030.
More than 600 people, representing several local contractors and suppliers attended the event.
