High speed train derails on test drive in France kills 10


(MENAFN- Saudi Press Agency) Berlin 03 Safar1437 15 November2015 SPA -- A high-speed train derailed on a test drive in France Saturday leaving 10 people dead another five missing and dozens injured dpa quoted news reports said today.
The train may have been travelling at more than 350 kilometres perhour when the front and rear locomotives left the track and plunged into a canal near the eastern city of Strasboug regional news outlet France Bleu Alsace reported.
At least 12 of the injured were in serious conditionand another 22 more lightly hurt according to a report by Dernieres Nouvelles d'Alsace.
The train "derailed due to excessive speed" the director of the regional prefect's office was quoted as saying by France TV info.
Details of the cause were under investigation.
Technicians other staff their family members and guests were on board the trial run when the train came off the tracks and caught fire according to the reports.
The accident happened in Eckwersheim a small town in the region of Alsace.
