Teachers, students attend cyber safety workshop

(MENAFN- Gulf Times) More than 150 teachers and co-ordinators of different subjects from 83 independent and international schools were introduced and trained in the educational cyber safety programme, Haseen, at 10 interactive workshops organised throughout last week by the Ministry of Information and Communications Technology's Digital Society Department in collaboration with the Supreme Education Council.
The workshops were attended by 80 technology teachers and co-ordinators from 43 international schools, 95 co-ordinators of Arabic and English from independent schools, 62 female students and six doctors from the Community College of Qatar (CCQ).
Featuring presentations and lectures, the workshops educated teachers on the cyber safety topics that Haseen covers along with the best practices, helped them better understand the programme, its vision, mission and end goals as well as how to use Haseen's specially-designed search engine.
The sessions also offered a platform for teachers and co-ordinators to explore the programme content - its learning resources and activities - and obtain hands-on experience on how to apply and fully utilise the system features.
"Haseen is of a great value to our educational sources and activities. Teachers can utilise it to prepare their classes, using its available sources such as the working papers and video clips, to enrich the content of the class periods," said Mohamed Hussain Abdel Latif, co-ordinator, Omar Bin Abdul Aziz Independent Secondary School.
