The Qatar Council for Healthcare Practitioners (QCHP) at SCH has issued a circular in this regard.

“The permanent licensing committee at SCH in its meeting held on October 14 has approved a new policy for Specialist Qatari Doctors (physicians & dentists) to practise in more than one institution in the private sector in Qatar” said the circular adding that the permission is subject to certain conditions.

The specialist Qatari Doctor should have a valid medical licence and must be working at least for five years as a specialist.

The doctor concerned should get an official written permit from the current employer. This permit is renewable and valid for two years unless it is cancelled before that.

An official request must be submitted to the registration department from the management of the new institution seeking the specialist’s service. There should not be a conflict between duty hours in the different institutions.

The doctor will only be considered as part of the permanent staff of the main institution he/she is licensed to.

The approval issued from the registration department is valid as long as the medical licence is valid and will be renewed with the medical licence’s renewal.

If there is a breach in the said conditions a warning letter will be issued to the doctor. In case of repetition the approval for practicing in other institutions will be cancelled and the doctor will not be allowed to submit a new request before six months said the circular.

The doctor can issue electronic sick leaves (E-Jaza) under the name of any institution that the registration department has granted approval to work with.
