Ooredoo appoints Sheikh Saud as group CEO


(MENAFN- Gulf Times) Ooredoo has appointed Sheikh Saud bin Nasser al-Thani as the group chief executive, succeeding Dr Nasser Marafih, who has been made a member of the company's board of directors.

In his new role, Marafih will be an adviser to the chairman of the Ooredoo board of directors.

Marafih replaces Omer Abdulaziz al-Hamed al-Marwani, Ooredoo said as the company announced major executive changes on Thursday.

Under this, Waleed Mohamed al-Sayed has been appointed as Ooredoo group deputy chief executive officer and chief executive officer of Ooredoo Qatar.

Yousuf Abdulla al-Kubaisi has replaced al-Sayed as chief operations officer of Ooredoo Qatar.

Ooredoo chairman HE Sheikh Abdulla bin Mohamed bin Saud al-Thani said, "We offer our highest gratitude and thanks to Dr Nasser for his valuable contributions and efforts that he provided as chief executive officer of the group. His time in the role was characterised with persistence and hard work, and we look forward to benefit from his service and expertise at the board.

"I also want to wish Sheikh Saud bin Nasser al-Thani success in leading the group at this exciting period which will witness a lot of developments in the telecoms industry."
