S. Korea logs 2 percent climb in rice yield over 2015

(MENAFN) South Korean rice production has hit a six-year high in 2015, touching a total of 4.32 million tons, a 2 percent jump from last year's 4.24 million tons.

According to the data released from Statistics Korea; this preserved peak-level production was mainly driven by the greater yield per cultivated land.

Better production efficiency also helped boost the output, plus the increase came despite a 2-percent fall in the nation's rice-growing area from 2014.

In more detail, the total of rice harvested from 1,000 square meter of land grew 4.2 percent to 542 kg from the prior year's 520 kg, based on the data.
