Chinese envoy says Jordan key partner in Silk Road Project

(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Chinese Ambassador to Jordan, Gao Yusheng, on Wednesday said that Jordan's stability and security made it a destination for industrial and commercial investments, particularly the new Silk-Road project that will pass through about 60 countries.

During a session held recently at the Economic and Social Council on the Chinese economy openness and its impact on Jordan, the ambassador said that the Silk Road Economic Belt will open a new era of global trade not only for China, but for the 60 countries it will pass through.

He said the historical Silk Route has already begun to pay off because of Jordan's participation in the project, as there are various completed and underway projects with a Chinese backing, including the power generation from oil shale project.

China has 45 percent of share in the Electricity Production from Oil Shale Company estimated around $990 million, Yusheng said, emphasizing that " without Jordan's participation in the Silk Road Project, China would not risk to attain such share in the oil shale company".

Yusheng said his country had inked various energy-related agreements in Jordan at a cost of $1.6 billion, indicating that there are talks between China, Russia and Jordan concerning generating of nuclear-powered electricity.
