UAE- ERC sends 30 tonnes of relief to victims of Chapala in Socotra

SHARJAH 12th November 2015 (WAM)An Emirates Red Crescent aircraft loaded with 30 tonnes of relief items today left Sharjah International Airport for Socotra island in Yemen in implementation of the UAE leadership's directives to assist victims of the devastating Cyclone Chapala which battered the island inflicting heavy losses to life and enormous damage to property.

Mohammed Salem Al Junaibi co-ordinator of the ERC's relief team said the plane is carrying rice flour dates edible oils and blankets and that another aircraft with 30 tonnes of foodstuff medical supplies shelter materials clean water and clothing will take off tomorrow for the island.

He added that the ERC would work hard to ease the suffering of those affected by the powerful cyclone.
