Silence bolsters board with former British Basketball chairman

Alistair Gray 67 has served as executive chairman of independent charity Winning Scotland Foundation and will join the company as a non-executive director. Stephen Parker non-executive chairman of Silence said: 'His expertise in strategic leadership will be invaluable as we continue to expand our business.' Gray is currently chairman of Edrington's Pension Trustees and of the trading division of John Hogg & company and has previously held senior management positions at Unilever (LON:ULVR) and John Wood Group (LON:WG.). He will also chair Silence's audit committee having previously held the same role at AorTech International (LON:AOR) and Highland Distillers. Silence develops cancer treatments which effectively help silence rogue genes by changing their genetic make-ups.
