OIC commends European Union s decision to label products from Israeli settlements

JEDDAH 12th November 2015 (WAM) -- The Secretary-General of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation Iyad Ameen Madani has commended the decision adopted by the European Union to label goods and products made in Israeli settlements in the occupied Palestinian territory.

The Secretary-General said in a statement that he considered this an important step in line with international resolutions and positions affirming the illegality of Israeli settlements.

Mr. Madani emphasised the need to build on such measures and strengthen them with political decisions and an effective role by the European Union towards compelling Israel to stop all apartheid settlement activities throughout the occupied Palestinian territories which constitute a major obstacle to achieving peace based on the two-state solution vision.
