Jordan bears 62 percent of Syrian refugees education costs\


(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Deputy Prime Minister and Education Minister, Mohammad Thneibat, said Tuesday that the total contributions of international organizations and donor countries do not exceed 38 percent of Syrian refugees education costs.

He added that the scarce support from the international community means that there is a funding gap of 62 percent of the total funding required to carry out these tasks and goals set forth in the Jordanian Response Plan in this regard.

Thneibat remarks came as he met in Paris with Director-General of UNESCO, Irina Bokova, where the two officials discussed means to boost ties between Jordan and the international agency.

The minister said that more than 200,000 thousand students from 85 nationalities are studying with Jordanian students at public schools and are receiving the same quality of education that Jordanians have without any financial cost.

Thneibat called on the UNESCO's head to support Jordan in vocational education and training teacher spheres.

The UNESCO director expressed her readiness to put UNESCO's expertise and capabilities at Jordan 's disposal.
