SC all set to launch roadshow on 2022 programmes and legacy

(MENAFN- Gulf Times) As Qatar's preparations for the 2022 FIFA World Cup continue to advance, this week marks the start of a five-week community engagement programme designed to get residents across the country involved and excited through an interactive, family-orientated booth.
The Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy (SC) will launch a five-week roadshow tomorrow, starting with a four-day stop at Lagoona Mall. The tour will stop at five different malls across Qatar to increase awareness about the SC's Community Engagement programme and encourage residents to participate and learn more about 2022 FIFA World Cup programmes, progress and activities.
Entertainment activities at the booth will include a football freestyler, a calligrapher that will help attendees master the art of Arabic calligraphy, Batak, PlayStation and football design activities for kids. Participants will be able to answer a questionnaire to evaluate their knowledge and give their feedback about the tournament, and also learn about the six stadiums currently under construction.
Khalid al-Jumaily, SC Community Engagement Manager, said: "We want everyone to be a part of the delivery of our stadiums and other infrastructure for the 2022 FIFA World Cup Qatar and the sustainable legacy we are creating along the way. That is why we are reaching out to people with this roadshow and intend to continue doing so every step of the journey. This is an opportunity for the public to contribute to and influence the outcomes which will directly affect their life and the lives of generations to come."
He added: "The SC Community Engagement team is tasked with empowering communities to deliver the legacy that is right for them. Through community outreach, arts and culture, education, sports and volunteering initiatives, the team interacts with a diverse array of communities and individuals across Qatar and the region, ensuring their voices are heard."
Activities for the entire family will be available and people visiting the booth will have the chance to not only learn about the first FIFA World Cup in the Middle East, but also share their views and expectations. The roadshow provides the different communities in Qatar with the opportunity interact directly with the SC in person, as well as sharing their experiences through social media.
The SC will use this valuable opportunity to talk with the public to learn about their concerns and expectations surrounding preparations for the 2022 FIFA World Cup and, wherever possible, apply them to the technical plans for the tournament.
SC Community Engagement has a wide array of programmes including a Youth Panel, with 35 young residents of 17 nationalities who now have a first-hand understanding of the tournament; the Al Rayyan Recycled Art Programme, which will re-use materials from the deconstructed Ahmed Bin Ali Stadium in Al Rayyan to create art pieces; or the Volunteer Programme, which already has 1,300 volunteers who have an opportunity to participate in different SC events leading up to 2022.
