Qatar- Economy Minister Highlights Initiatives to Boost Private Sector


(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency) HE Minister of Economy and Trade Sheikh Ahmed bin Jassim bin Mohammed Al-Thani gave a lecture Tuesday at Carnegie Mellon Qatar in which he highlighted the achievements of the Qatari economy and the progress in the implementation of Qatar National Vision 2030.

HE the Minister also described the challenges facing the Qatari economy and the efforts the government are making to face them. His Excellency also presented a number of projects and initiatives that aim to boost competitiveness in the Qatari market. Such initiatives he said include providing a legislative framework that is business-friendly, besides establishment of a number of economic zones to boost the private sector.

HE the Minister discussed some of the investment opportunities that can increase cooperation between the public and private sector, such as projects concerned with food security. Other projects include warehousing and logistics projects.

Following the lecture, HE the Minister responded to a number of questions from the attendees and signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Carnegie Mellon Qatar to cooperate in the field of education.
