UAE- Martyr's final request to family: Raise my kids as loyal citizens

"Raise my children as loyal citizens of the nation and the leaders to keep the country safe and united" were the final words of martyr Rashid Saeed Rashid Khamis Al Habsi to his brother Majid days before he died.

On September 4 Rashid died in an attack on the Marib province in Yemen on September 4.

He requested his brother to take care of his five-year-old son and two daughters.

The 30-year-old martyr based in the Seeh Al Bariyat area of Ras Al Khaimah was "happy and proud" to take part in the Saudi Arabia-led Operation Restoring Hope in Yemen. He saw it as "supporting righteousness justice and legitimacy in Yemen". "He sacrificed his soul willingly for the nation." The martyr was well-known for his discipline and good manners said Majid. "Of course all of his family members are sad about his demise but we are all proud of his martyrdom and are ready to complete his sacred mission.

"I as a serviceman in the UAE Armed Forces am also ready to perform my national duty sacrifice my blood and soul and defend right and justice in line with the directives of the prudent leadership" Majid added.

Majid said his brother had performed Umrah a week before heading to Yemen.

'Proud to be martyr's wife'

Fawziya Abdullah Mohammed Hassan Al Shehi widow of the martyr said she was honoured to be crowned with the title of 'martyr's wife'. "It is a big responsibility to be granted this honour."

She pledged to teach her kids the "exemplary story" of their heroic father. "They have to know how great noble brave and loyal their father was."

Rashid was the fifth of his parents' 19 children said his elder brother Mohammed Saeed. "He was kind to all of his family members neighbours and anyone in need for help."

His top priority had always been his country and the UAE Armed Forces. "He was part of the UAE troops dispatched to Bahrain and was then moved to Yemen to defeat the Houthi rebels."

Mohammed said he last spoke to his brother four days before he died. "He was optimistic and his morale was high as usual."
