UAE- High level GCC Electronic Media delegation visits Hedayah

ABU DHABI 9th November 2015 (WAM)--A high-level electronic media delegation from the Gulf Cooperation Council for the Arab States has visited Hedayah the International Centre of Excellence for Countering Violent Extremism (CVE).

Maqsoud Kruse Executive Director of Hedayah welcomed the honourable visitors to the Centre and commended their visit for its strategic significance that comes within the framework of future collaboration activities between Hedayah and the related authorities and institutions of the GCC States.

Kruse also reiterated that UAE pioneers initiatives that promote non-violent values adopt best means and practices to prevent risks from emerging and skillfully address crisis and its root causes at the national regional and international level.

The delegation was briefed on the Centre's goals mission vision and achievements which included initiatives in countering the violent extremist narratives via social media online and offline Hedayah continues to offer CVE Media & Messaging and Online Resilience Courses aiming at enhancing media skills maximising the potential of generating narratives that are more positive and building the community resilience to online radicalisation.

Hedayah has also launched the "Online Counter-Narrative Collection & Virtual Portal for the CVE Community".

Furthermore Kruse highlighted Hedayah's role that focusses on global countering of violent extremism in all its forms and manifestations through conducting dialogue training and research.

Hedayah will continue to support all efforts aiming at breaking the extremist ideology and sensibly countering its narratives and messages along with coming up with alternative counter-narratives in order to cut off the evil at the root.
