Turkish army kills 13 PKK militants

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) Turkish army has killed at least 13 Kurdish Workers' Party (PKK) militants in the southeastern Hakkari, Sirnak, and Diyarbakir provinces within the last 24 hours, the Turkish military said Sunday.
In a press statement, the General Staff said that the military killed 11 PKK terrorists Saturday in Semdinli district of Hakkari province and two others in Sirnak and Diyarbakir provinces.
Since July, military and security forces in the country have been conducting anti-terror operations against the PKK, which is also considered a terrorist organization by the US and the EU.
Air-and-ground operations against the PKK terrorist organization inside Turkey and northern Iraq started after the PKK renewed its armed campaign against the Turkish state following a two-and-a-half year lull in the attacks. Over 2,000 PKK terrorists have been killed so far in operations.
