Russian airstrikes kill 17 Syrian civilians


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) At least 17 civilians were killed and dozens of others wounded when Russian warplanes pounded Idlib and Aleppo governorates in north Syria on Sunday.
The airstrikes on Marrat Al-Nu'man city, Idlib, killed nine people and injured several others, some seriously, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) reported, expecting that the death toll to rise further.
Another airstrike on Saraqeb town, to the southeast of Idlib city, killed two women and wounded another person.
In Al-Bab town, northeast Aleppo governorate, six people were killed in an air attack on areas reportedly controlled by the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIL).
Meanwhile, fierce fighting continues near Al-Khaser town on the southern rural outskirts of Aleppo city, between the Syrian regular troops and pro-regime militias, on one hand, and Al-Nusrah Front and other opposition groups, on the other.
The opposition groups have reportedly captured Talilat village and inflicted heavy human and material losses on the regular army, according to SOHR.
In a related development, the authenticity and development front, an opposition group, announced merger with other groups under the name of new Syria army, aiming to recapture the eastern parts of the country from ISIL, according to Syria Mubasher news network (SLN). A statement, issued by the information office of the front and carried by the SLN, deemed the emergence of ISIL a ploy by the regime to abort the Syrian revolution.
The office said the font opened training camps for new recruits in the framework of "a single national project to hoist high the Syrian flag."
