Tehran to host 3rd GECF meeting Nov. 27th


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) Director of International and Commercial Affairs of Oil Ministry Amir-Hossein Zamaninia said on Saturday that the third meeting of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF) will be held in Tehran on November 27.
In a press statement, Zamaninia said the conference would be held under the rubric of "Natural Gas, a Selected Fuel for Sustainable Development." He added heads of state from 12 member countries, including Iran, Algeria, Bolivia, Egypt, Equatorial Guinea, Russia, Libya, the UAE, Nigeria, Qatar, Trinidad and Tobago and Venezuela, as well as five observer nations, including the Netherlands, Norway, Oman, Iraq and Peru will attend Tehran meeting.
Zamaninia stated the first GECF meeting was held in Doha in 2011 and the second meeting was held in Moscow in 2013.
The Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF) is a gathering of the world's leading gas producers and was set up as international governmental organization with the objective to increase the level of coordination and strengthen the collaboration among Member countries.
The GECF also seeks to build a mechanism for a more meaningful dialogue between gas producers and gas consumers for the sake of stability and security of supply and demand in global natural gas markets.
