Jordan- Labor minister meets FAO delegation

(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Labour Minister, Nidal Katamine, on Wednesday met with a delegation from the Food and Agricultural Organisation (FAO) office in Jordan and voiced the importance of cementing cooperation with the agency.

Katamine said the agricultural sector is a key sector despite being unstable in terms of the income and the number of Jordanian employees in the sector, noting that 95 percent of its employees are foreign labour due to the reluctance of youth to work in the sector.

FAO representative in Jordan Nasser Eddine al-Amine said the agency is willing to expand its activities in Jordan, especially that the Syrian crisis has prompted the agency to upgrade its representation in Jordan.

The two sides agreed to form a committee to coordinate and follow up on proposals submitted by the FAO to the Labour Ministry, in order to present these to the donors.

FAO also showed willingness to contribute to securing financial and technical support necessary for the development of training and employment in the agricultural sector in the Kingdom.
