Oman breaks ground on Miraah mega solar project
(MENAFN) Petroleum Development Oman (PDO) and GlassPoint Solar have started working on their landmark solar project 'Miraah'.
Additionally, Miraah, which means mirror in Arabic, is expected to harness the sun's energy to produce steam used in heavy oil production.
This massive project is set to be one of the world's biggest solar plants which at its peak will be able to create more than one gigawatts of solar thermal energy.
"Miraah will generate significant value for Oman by creating new opportunities in supply chain development, manufacturing capacity," said Director of PDO.
