Jordan to remove all barriers to foreign capital, Minister

(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) The government has taken an economic stimulus package to promote competitiveness and improve the business environment to help the Kingdom address challenges posed by the repercussions of regional turmoil, Minister of Industry, Trade and Supply Maha Ali said.

Ali also told the president and members of the Iraqi Business Council that Jordan would remove any barriers to investors.

She said the government attached great importance to Iraqi investments in the Kingdom as it recognized the challenges facing them and Jordanian industries, notably the closure of the Treibil crossing on the border with Iraq.

The minister said Jordan is in coordination with Iraqi authorities to reopen the border as quickly as possible to facilitate access for Jordanian exports that had been hit hard by the border closures.

She also said Jordan is working to diversify energy sources and turning to alternative energy, mainly the industry and other sectors to reduce production costs.
