President of Chad OIC Secretary General discuss relations

JEDDAH 4th November 2015 (WAM) -- President Idriss Deby Itno of the Republic of Chad and Iyad Amin Madani Secretary-General of the Islamic Cooperation Organisation OIC have discussed mutual relations.

Mr. Madani briefed the President on the main issues of concern to the OIC in various domains including regional and international issues as well as ways to consolidate the OIC and Chad relationship and cooperation. The Secretary-General also invited President Deby to attend the next ordinary OIC summit to be held in Turkey.

President Deby expressed his appreciation of the OIC and its various activities and affirmed that his country will continue to play an effective role in the Muslim world. The President explained the efforts and challenges facing his government to eradicate the terrorist group Boko Haram which targets young people. He added that defeating Boko Haram cannot be done by weapons alone but requires special attention to development projects that can absorb the energy of the youth.
