Arab League ,European Union Sign Cooperation Protocol


(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency) The Arab League and the EU have signed a cooperation protocol to start the second phase of a project that seeks to strengthen the Arab League's capabilities to face crises.

The Arab League Secretary-General Dr. Nabil Elaraby and EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini signed the protocol.

In a statement released today, the Arab League said the protocol represents a completion of the first phase of the project between the Arab League and the European Union in the field of early warning and crisis management which was implemented in the period between 2011 and 2014.

The second phase seeks to strengthen technical and institutional of the Arab League's General Secretariat and member countries in field of crisis management and establishment of the Arab crisis response initiative in partnership with national crisis response entities of the Arab states that would facilitate closer cooperation between them .
