Kuwait wins UNESCO's General Conf. VP post


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) Kuwait's Permanent Delegate to UNESCO Dr. Meshal Hayat announced that the country has won the post of Deputy President of UNESCO's General Conference for a two-year term.
In a statement to KUNA Tuesday, Hayat said that Kuwait is among 36 deputies who will help president achieve missions inside all agencies belong to UNESCO.
The State of Kuwait was chosen for the post during the 38th session of UNESCO's General Conference currently held in the French capital, he added.
The post is a source of pride for Kuwiat and its prominent role in the international sences, especially UNESCO, he said.
He noted that Kuwait is seeking to obtain new posts of the organization's committees.
On the sidelines of the conference, Minister of Education and Minister of Higher Education Dr. Bader Al-Issa had affirmed in a statement to KUNA that Kuwait is keen on activating its active role to help UNESCO promote its programs and achieve its mission.
A Kuwaiti delegation, headed by Minister Al-Issa, is participating in the conference. Kuwait's Ambassador to France Sami Al-Suleiman and Dr. Hayat are among the delegation.
