Syrian opposition repels regime forces assault on W. Ghouta


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) The opposition Syrian Free Army has manage to crash a broad attack launched by the regime forces and its loyal militias on the town of Darya, in Western Ghouta of Rif Dimashq Province.
The Syria Mubasher Network added that the foiled offensive left over 40 regime army servicemen killed and dozens others injured.
It added that opposition fighters have managed to destroy a number of regime tanks and armored vehicles.
Meanwhile, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, reported that Russian warplanes have carried out at least 10 raids on areas in the town of Mahin in the southeastern countryside of Homs, which is controlled by the so-called Islamic state in Iraq and the Levant (ISIL).
On the other hand, SOHR reported that a United Nations team has managed to enter Al-Wa'er neighborhood in Homs, where its members toured the neighborhood and met some elders and residents.
In Hama province, violent clashes are taking place in Tal Osman area between the rebel and Islamic factions against the regime forces and militiamen loyal to them, amid intense mutual shelling, the SOHR reported.
It added that there are reports that the opposition forces have advanced and took control over several areas. Moreover, the rebel forces targeted positions for the regime forces in Morek town and the villages of Tal Etman and al-Janabera in the northern countryside of Hama, hit and destroyed a tank in Tal Etman.
In Aleppo Province, SOHR stated that regime warplanes bombed area in the southern neighborhoods of Al-Ansari and Bostan Al-Qasr and Al-MashHad, killing 10 people - including three children.
It warned that the death toll is expected to rise because there are some people in critical situation.
In the northern Al-Hasakah Province, the SOHR reported that violent clashes continued between the Syrian Democratic Forces consists of Syrian Arab Coalition and Kurdish fighters against members of the ISIL in the vicinity of al-Hool town, accompanied by several airstrikes by the International Coalition's warplanes on the organization's sites in the area.
Furthermore, reliable sources from the area reported to SOHR that ISIL members set fire to the crude oil on the outskirts and vicinity of Al-Bahra Khatuniyyah area near Al-Hool, in an attempt to form a cloud of smoke in order to mislead the coalition's warplanes from their targets.
