21st congress for Int'l Association of Sport Law kicks off in Morocco


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) The 21st congress for International Association of Sport Law (IASL) kicked off Tuesday, with participation of President of Organizing Committee for Woman Sport in GCC Sheikha Naima Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah and several Arab and foreign experts.
The three-day annual event, which is co-organized by Morocco's Ministry of Youth and Sport, the Olympic committee and Association of Sports Press, discusses different issues and problems pertaining to sports law and management to improve sports system across the globe.
It also deals with some topics on combating doping and training professional lawyers on sports law, and the new law of players' agents.
Addressing the opening session, Moroccan Minister of Youth and Sports Mohammad Ouzzine stressed the need to strengthen the legal framework of sports through a joint action among all members to support the efforts of bosses and workers in various fields.
He underlined the necessity of specifying roles of different actors to formulate an effective strategy in this area so as to create a good atmosphere for sports practices.
On his part, Saeed Jamaan, secretary general of the Arab Football Federation, affirmed that there is a bad need of sports arbitration bodies in the Arab world in order to solve problems in the Arab sports federations in this area, form a new generation familiar with laws and create strong links between education and sports.
The event has 17 workshops containing topics pertaining to international sports organizations, the Olympic committees, international organizations to combat doping, Court of Arbitration for Sport and others.
Sheikha Naima was honored in the opening session in recognition of her achievements serving the international sports law.
The IASL is an international scientific Association which has been created during the first International Congress of Sports Law in 1992 in Athens, Greece. Since then, Athens has become the administrative headquarters of the Association and its president and its membership includes members from different parts of the globe.
