New election law serves the political process, says Minister

(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Minister of Political and Parliamentary Affairs, Khalid Kalaldeh, said the new draft election law serves the political process, and paves the way for the formation of parliamentary governments in the future.

During a meeting to discuss the new draft election law with secretaries and representatives of leftist and nationalist parties, on Monday, Kalaldeh said the use of black money to influence the will of the voters is rejected and considered a crime, noting on the other hand, that using political money to support party candidates in advertising and promotion, is not a crime.

He pointed out that national lists, which were used in the last elections, were rejected by the constitutional court, therefore the government ruled them out in the new draft law.

Parties officials praised the new election law for excluding the one-vote law, highlighting a number of observations on the draft.
