Ahmed Chalabi dies of heart attack


(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) The Iraqi parliament member Ahmad Chalabi, a key player in the lead-up to the 2003 US invasion of Iraq, has died early Tuesday of a heart attack.

According to an Iraqi official source, Chalabi, who was a veteran Iraqi politician and the head of parliament's financial panel, died in his Kadhimiya residence in Baghdad and he was 70.

He was a long-time opposition figure dedicated to overthrowing the government of Saddam Hussein and he was wanted by the Jordanian Judiciary in the charges of the Petra Bank scandal.
