Sultan Al Jaber issues statement on Flag Day

ABU DHABI 2nd November 2015 (WAM) -- Dr. Sultan bin Ahmed Sultan Al Jaber Minister of State and Chairman of the National Media Council has said that the celebration of Flag Day which coincides with the accession anniversary of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan to the presidency of the country has profound national themes notably pride in the country and seeing its Flag flying high.

In a statement on the occasion Dr. Al Jaber said that UAE Flag Day evokes pride in the empowerment and comprehensive development process under the wise leadership that catapulted the country to the top global ranking in all fields.

"The directives of Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum to mark the occasion contribute to inculcating and strengthening the culture of appreciating the flag as a symbol of national unity and belonging to our beloved land" he said.

Dr. Al Jaber noted "Flag Day this year coincides with the heroism demonstrated by our valiant armed forces in Yemen. We seize this opportunity to offer greetings to our brave soldiers and to our faithful martyrs for their sacrifices as well as ensure cohesion between the leadership and the people."

He said that Flag Day represents an opportunity to express feelings cherished by the people of UAE for the leadership. "It is our message to the whole world: to reiterate our loyalty and love for our leadership and nation."

Dr. Al Jaber continued "Raising the flag over public agencies departments and federal ministry buildings simultaneously sends a message to the world that we in the UAE government and people are proud of our history achievements and unity and that we are moving in the footsteps of the founding fathers notably the late father of the nation Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan who had devoted his time and effort for the sake of the homeland and its citizens.

He added that the late Sheikh Zayed kept the flag hoisted high as a symbol of dignity and sovereignty of the state and the unity of its people as well as the symbol for protection of the nation's territory and its gains.

Dr. Al Jaber concluded by saying "The UAE flag will remain the symbol of our unity reiterating our pledge in service of the homeland and leadership."
