Kuwait- Info. Min. in Muscat for Islamic Conf.


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) Kuwaiti Minister of Information and Minister of State for Youth Affairs Sheikh Salman Sabah Salem Al-Humoud Al-Sabah arrived here on Sunday to participate in the 9th Islamic Conference of Culture Ministers due between November 2-4.
Upon arrival here, the minister, who doubles as Chairman of the National Council for Culture, Arts and Letters (NCCAL), said in press remarks that Kuwait and Oman have firm bonds in all fields.
The 9th Islamic Conference of Culture Ministers is due in Nizwa City, the Capital of Islamic Culture for 2015, between November 2-4.
The minister said the conference will handle several issues, mainly a cultural strategy in the Muslim world and mechanisms for promoting tolerance, moderation, inter-cultural dialogue, amity and peace.
He added that Kuwait's participation in a roundtable of Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) ministers of culture on the sidelines of the 9th conference is primarily meant to promote the country's successful experience in the field of ideal use of Islamic cultural mediation.
Kuwait is currently making proper preparations for a festival marking Kuwait City as the Capital of Islamic Culture for 2016 through various cultural activities that reflect the country's tradition and opening up to different cultures and civilizations, the minister pointed out.
Accompanied by a delegation of senior officials of the Ministry of Information, the Kuwaiti minister was received at the Muscat International Airport by Undersecretary of the Omani Ministry of Tradition and Culture Sheikh Hamad Al-Maamari.
