(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) The US-led coalition against the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) launched a total of 25 airstrikes in Syria and Iraq on Saturday, the Combined Joint Task Force - Operation Inherent Resolve (CJTF-OIR) said in a statement.
In Syria, fighter, ground-attack, and remotely piloted aircraft carried out nine airstrikes.
Near Al Hawl, three airstrikes struck three separate ISIL tactical units, destroying two vehicles and wounding a fighter.
Near Mar'a, six strikes struck four separate ISIL tactical units and destroyed seven fighting positions, a mortar system, a vehicle borne improvised explosive device (VBIED), and wounded two fighters.
In Iraq, the coalition launched 16 airstrikes against the insurgent group.
Near Al Huwayjah, an airstrike hit an ISIL tactical unit and destroyed a checkpoint.
Near Bayji, a strike struck an ISIL tactical unit and destroyed a vehicle.
Near Mosul, two strikes hit an ISIL tactical unit and destroyed two fighting positions and two artillery pieces.
Near Ramadi, three airstrikes struck two separate tactical units and destroyed two rocket rails, a trench, 10 fighting positions, and eight buildings, in addition to suppressing an ISIL fighting position, and denhing access to terrain; Near Sinjar, seven strikes struck six separate ISIL tactical units and destroyed six fighting positions, two vehicles, a VBIED, a homemade explosives cache and an assembly area, besides wounding an ISIL fighter and suppressing a mortar position; Near Sultan Abdallah, one strike destroyed an ISIL excavator. Near Tal Afar, a final strike destroyed an ISIL vehicle.
