Egypt to hand over bodies of Russian plane crash victims to embassy

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) The Egyptian authorities will be handing over bodies of victims of Russian plane, which crashed in Sinai Saturday, to the embassy's representatives so as to transfer them to their home.
In a press statement, Justice Shaaban Al-Shami, head of forensic medicine authority, said Sunday that the DNA analysis was used to identify the bodies of the victims, referring to the medical imaging technology on the bodies of victims who were delivered to the embassy's representatives.
All orders issued by the Public Prosecution pertaining to the bodies of the dead have been implemented, he said, adding, an autopsy will not be done on the bodies in implementation of the prosecution's orders.
He noted that he received an official letter from the Russian embassy in Cairo demanding taking preparatory measures for transferring the bodies of the dead to their home.
Al-Shami had said on Saturday that the authority had received 171 bodies of the dead.
On Saturday morning, a Russian charter plane crashed in Egypt's volatile Sinai Peninsula, killing all 224 people on board, in one of the country's worst air accidents.
