Lebanese army arrest two persons for smuggling fuel, devices to militants


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) The Lebanese army said it arrested a national and a Syrian woman in northeast of Lebanon for attempting to smuggle fuel and electronic devices to armed groups, active on the common borders with Syria.
The Lebanese citizen was charged with smuggling fuel he was hiding in a tank in the truck he was driving, to deliver it to outlawed militants at the outskirts of Arsal, the army said in a statement.
It added the Syrian woman was accused of smuggling electronic devices to be used for internet connections for armed groups.
The army said the woman confessed that her brother belonged to so-called Islamic State in Iraq and Levant (ISIL).
Armed groups are scattered at the rough terrain near the Syrian borders, specially in outskirts of Arsal.
