FANR Director General visits Ministry of Interior

ABU DHABI 1st November 2015 (WAM) -- Top officials from the Federal Authority for Nuclear Regulation (FANR) and the Ministry of Interior (MoI) met on Sunday to discuss their joint efforts to address nuclear-related security threats in the UAE.

During their meeting in Abu Dhabi FANR Director-General Christer Viktorsson and MoI Under-Secretary Lt. General Saif Abdullah Al Sha'far agreed to continue their agencies' close cooperation.

Viktorsson who became FANR's Director-General in June 2015 described FANR's role and responsibilities as the nation's sole authority over all matters related to the control and supervision of the UAE's nuclear sector. This includes regulatory oversight of security-related issues such as the protection of nuclear facilities the security of radioactive sources and responses to emergencies.

Other FANR officials at the meeting included Mohammed Sultan Al Zaabi Deputy Director-General of Administration Rashed Al Falahi Acting Government Affairs Manager Ahmed Al Zaabi Manager Radioactive Sources Security and Monira Al Kuttab Chief Communications Advisor.
