Doha: Defending champions Lekhwiya are desperate for a win as they host leaders Al Rayyan in a crunch Qatar Stars League (QSL) today.

Lekhwiya have lost two matches in a row while Al Rayyan who made a comeback in the league are yet to lose a point winning six matches on a trot.

The defending champions are aware of a tough challenge ahead at their own backyard.

“It will be a difficult game. They are having a good run of games” said Lekhwiya’s Assistant Coach Bruno Oliveira ahead of the match.

“They have had successful wins so far. They are a strong team which has invested a lot” he added.

“There are big expectations from the fans and media. So we expect a tough game. But these are the kind of games that we like to play. We like this kind of intensity pressure and quality. That’s the only way we will evolve to a higher level. We are very enthusiastic about the game.”

Oliveira added: “It’s definitely not a must win game for us. It could be for them. They have all of this expectation and pressure in every game because they have had such a good start” he said.

“They are expected to win every one of their matches from now on. But we are here to give them a tough fight on Saturday. We are confident in our players and in our strategy to block their strengths. We are working hard to be ready for this game.”

Al Rayyan Head Coach Jorge Fossati was confident ahead of the match.

“Every week is a new test a new challenge. We are always thinking that the next game is the most important. This game against Lekhwiya will not be an exception. It will be a tough game but we have big confidence in our players. We trust in them and hope to try to get the victory again this weekend” he said.

Lekhwiya can come back to winning ways but we will try and delay that. I believe in my players and I have always said my idea is to take it game by game. We know that it will be a very tough game but I have confidence in my players.”
