German rapper turned Daesh recruiter killed in Syria: US
(MENAFN- The Journal Of Turkish Weekly) A U.S. airstrike killed a former German rapper who helped Daesh’s international recruitment and incitement efforts the Pentagon confirmed Friday.
Spokeswoman Elissa Smith said an Oct. 16 airstrike near Raqqa Syria Daesh’s self-declared capital killed Denis Cuspert who formerly performed under the name Deso Dogg in Germany.
Cuspert publicly threatened President Barack Obama as well as German nationals. “He also encouraged western Muslims to conduct attacks on behalf of ISIL” Smith said.
Cuspert appeared in several Daesh propaganda videos under the nom de guerre Abu Talha al-Almani some of which depicted grisly acts of violence.
He was designated a terrorist by the U.S. in February when the Pentagon characterized him as being “emblematic of the type of foreign recruit ISIL seeks for its ranks -- individuals who have engaged in criminal activity in their home countries who then travel to Iraq and Syria to commit far worse crimes against the people of those countries”.
Born in Berlin the German national converted to Islam in 2010 after a near fatal car crash ending his rap career.
The UN also designated Cuspert a terrorist under its al-Qaeda Actions Committee.
