Jordan- PM, Swedish minister discuss ties, region


(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Prime Minister Abdullah Ensour met at the Prime Ministry on Wednesday, with Swedish Minister of Public Administration Ardalan Shekarabi, who is currently visiting the Kingdom at the head of a Swedish trade delegation.

During the meeting, which was attended by Minister of Industry and Trade and Minister of Supply Maha Ali, and the Swedish Ambassador to Jordan Helena Rietz, Ensour voiced keenness to forge closer ties with Sweden, mainly in the economic and trade fields.

He said that economic legislation as well as economic and security stability in the Kingdom are key factors to encourage and attract investments into the country.

The prime minister also reviewed political reforms that have been implemented by Jordan under the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah II, noting that Jordan had dealt with protests and sit-ins over the past years in a positive and wise manner.

On the Palestinian issue, Ensour said Israel should respect international legitimacy resolutions and end its occupation of Palestinian lands, pointing to His Majesty King Abdullah's efforts to reach a just and comprehensive solution to the Palestinian issue.

The prime minister also praised Sweden's historic stance to recognize the State of Palestine.

The Swedish minister voiced understanding of the burdens borne by Jordan as a result of hosting a large number of Syrian refugees, adding that his country has received around 90,000 Syrian refugees.

He also affirmed readiness to boost cooperation with Jordan, mainly in the economic and trade fields.
