Kuwaiti referee awarded int'l chess officiating badge

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) A Kuwaiti referee has been awarded the international officiating badge by the World Chess Federation (FIDE), making him the first certified international Kuwaiti chess referee capable of managing FIDE's tournaments, Kuwait Mind Sports Association (KMSA) announced Wednesday.
Referee Khalaf Al-Azmi was awarded the badge after completing all FIDE's chess officiating courses and meeting the required conditions, Adel Al-Amiri, KMSA's Secretary, stated to KUNA, noting that Al-Azmi's international badge is a source of pride and achievement for all KMSA's members.
The Kuwaiti referee earned this merit due to his dedication and hard work at the Association, where he took part and refereed several chess contests on local, Arab, and international arenas, contributing to the spread of chess among youngsters in Kuwait, Al-Amiri added.
KMSA is keen on supporting and improving all its members in all four board games it sponsors, including chess, checkers, bridge, and dominoes, he confirmed, calling on youngsters in Kuwait to join the association's activities and practice these games in order to enhance their mental skills and talents.
