FM highlights Jordan's security, stability in turbulent region


(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and Expatriates Affairs, Nasser Judeh, said Jordanhas succeeded in maintaining its position as an oasis of security and stability in a turbulent region.

Judeh delivered these remarks in a speech during a high-level meeting of senior United Nations officials and its related agencies, to discuss the UN contribution to the region's issues.

He praised the UN agencies' efforts, to achieve development and peace as well as its humanitarian role, especially with regard to the refugee crisis in the region, stressing Jordan's keenness to continue coordination with the United Nations in various fields.

The minister also stressed the centrality of the Palestinian issue, as the core conflict in the region, noting that the Israeli-Palestinian conflict has been prolonged without reaching a just solution to end the Palestinian people's suffering.

He underlined the importance of finding a comprehensive solution to the conflict through the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital on the fourth of June 1967 borders.

Judeh reaffirmed the importance of reaching a political solution to the Syrian crisis, highlighting its humanitarian and economic repercussions on Jordan.

He also highlighted the latest developments in Iraq, Libya and Yemen.
