FM reiterates Jordan stance calling for political solution in Syria


(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) France on Tuesday hosted a meeting to discuss the Syrian crisis with representatives from Jordan, the U.S., the UK, Germany,Turkey, Saudi Arabia, UAE and Qatar.

The meeting reviewed the latest developments in Syria, means to bring about a political solution as well as the fight against terrorism.

Foreign Minister, Nasser Judeh, who took part in the meeting emphasized the Kingdom's position towards Syria, which calls for a comprehensive political solution.

The solution should be in line with the Geneva 1 resolutions and responsive to the aspirations of the Syrian people, Judeh said.

Also, It must achieve a political a transition to a new political "reality" that is embraced by all segments of the Syrian society and enables us to defeat terrorism, he added.

The minister who is also deputy premier, said the situation in Syria remains deadlocked and the latest worrying developments indicate that the ramifications of the ongoing tragic conditions went beyond Syria and its neighboring countries.
