UAE- OIC plans to send urgent relief shipments to Yemen

JEDDAH 28th October 2015 (WAM) -- The Organisation of Islamic Cooperation OIC is planning to send urgent relief shipments of materials to Yemen via air and sea in coordination with the governments of its member states and partners of the organisation.

In a statement yesterday Fuad Al-Maznaee Advisor to the Secretary-General of the OIC on Humanitarian Affairs said that the urgent humanitarian assistance includes medical supplies and foodstuff in coordination with the legitimate authorities in the Yemeni government.

He pointing out that this aid comes with funding from the Islamic Development Bank and the Islamic Solidarity Fund and will be distributed via the humanitarian organisation's office in the city of Aden.

Al-Maznaee said that the organisation is working on holding an international humanitarian and development conference for donors to support Yemen and to mobilise the necessary and urgent resources needed to meet the critical humanitarian situation in Yemen and the requirements of the next phase in coordination with the Yemeni side and partners from regional and international authorities including the King Salman Centre for Relief and Humanitarian Aid and the United Nations and its humanitarian and development organisations .
