QP highlights LNG strides at Gastech Singapore

(MENAFN- Gulf Times) The Gastech 2015 Conference and Exhibition was inaugurated in Singapore yesterday with a "strong participation" by Qatar Petroleum (QP) and some of its subsidiaries and joint ventures.
Many VIPs and senior executives visited the Qatar Petroleum pavilion, which prominently showcased its extensive oil and gas activities as well as the operations of its Industrial Cities Directorate for the continued development of major gas-based industries in Qatar.
Display booths of Qatargas, and Qatar Gas Transport Company (Nakilat)are also part of the QP pavilion.
"The active participation of QP and other major Qatari companies in Gastech 2015 highlights Qatar's prominent stature in the global gas industry. The country's North Field, which covers around 6,000 sq km in area, is the world's largest single non-associated gas reservoir. Qatar is also recognised as the world's largest producer and exporter of liquefied natural gas (LNG), and it is also widely known as the global capital of the gas-to-liquids (GTL) industry," QP said in a release.
On the inaugural day of the event, RasGas CEO, Hamad Mubarak al-Muhannadi, participated in a panel discussion focusing on the impact of lower oil and liquefied natural gas (LNG) prices on LNG buyers and sellers over the next five years.
Senior Qatargas and RasGas executives are also taking part in Gastech 2015 as part of the commercial and technical streams of the conference, with focus on the global gas and LNG markets, and the changes expected to be seen over the medium to long terms.
First held in London in 1972 and now on its 28th edition, the Gastech Conference & Exhibition is a major event for the global gas industry and brings together the world's leading energy companies and industry professionals working in fields related to natural gas production, development and utilisation.
According to the organisers, the four-day event consistently attracts more than 20,000 international visitors, 2,000 conference delegates, as well as 500 international, regional and local exhibitors. This year's Gastech is supported by RasGas as the "Strategic sponsor."
The event is held every 18 months in a different international locations; it was hosted once in Doha in October 2002. Last year, it was held in Seoul in March. The next edition of the event will be held in Tokyo in April 2017.
