GCC meeting in Doha looks into unified insurance system


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) The 15th meeting for the GCC pension and social security institutes was held here Tuesday to look into means to unify insurance systems in the region's countries.
Qatar Minister of Administrative Development Dr. Issa Al-Nuaimi said during the meeting that it was important to develop a system that would protect social security and insurance for GCC states citizens.
Sustaining economic development and protecting GCC citizens from unemployment and poverty are mutual goals that governments should strive to achieve, said the minister, affirming that further developing social security and insurance in the region were keys to achieve these goals.
On his part, President of Qatar's General Retirement and Social Insurance Authority Turki bin Mohammad Al-Kater said that implementing a unified system to protect insurance and pension in the region was a tough task due to the difference of pension and social security laws in the region.
He affirmed that the meeting will look into common grounds in the GCC that will enable the establishment of a unified system
