(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) Sheikh Mohammad bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, and visiting Egyptian President Abdelfatah Al-Sisi discussed Tuesday the latest regional and international developments and challenges.
Al-Sisi and Sheikh Mohammad, who is also Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, dealt with means of promoting fraternal bilateral ties and several regional and international issues of mutual interest, said an official statement carried by Emirates News Agency (WAM).
During the meeting, the two sides focused on means of promoting the strategic cooperation between their countries in all domains so as to achieve their interests, the statement added.
They affirmed their sincere desire to consolidate the strategic partnerships between them, it stated.
On the Syrian crisis, they stressed the need to coordinate efforts with regional and international forces to reach peaceful solutions that guarantee security and safety of a united Syria and protect its national institutions, it said.
They also affirmed the necessity of strengthening channels of communication, cooperation and dialogue with the international community to reach common solutions to various regional and international challenges, it mentioned.
On Yemen, the two sides dealt with the role of the Arab coalition's "Operation Restoring Hope" to support the legitimate government and confront security challenges that threaten the region as well as achievements made by the coalition on the ground including protection of navigation routes in Bab Al Mandab, a development which will encourage and ensure free movement of international trade, WAM said.
They discussed the latest situation in the occupied Palestinian territory, stressing the importance of protecting Palestinian people from the systematic Israeli aggressions, it said.
As for Libya, they touched on efforts currently exerted by the United Nations to find a peaceful settlement to the crisis.
Egypt and the UAE underlined the necessity of the continuation of Arab solidarity and cooperation so as to address challenges facing the Arab region.
This will also protect the region's capabilities, counter extremism, violence, terrorist organizations and extremist groups that try to undermine security, peace and stability of countries and their national institutions, it said.
The two sides reviewed different fields of cooperation and coordination of mutual interest, mainly economic, political and developmental ones, it made clear.
Sheikh Mohammad said that the UAE, led by President Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, underscores its firm, supportive stance to Egypt in order to help it maintain its security and stability, and promote its economic and developmental growth.
On his part, Al-Sisi voiced his gratitude to the UAE for its constructive role backing Egypt, honorable standing beside the Egyptian people and support for economic and developmental fields, which fuel the engine of growth and bolster stability.
He affirmed Egypt's commitment to safeguarding security and stability of the UAE and GCC countries and standing with them in confronting challenges they may face.
Al-Sisi is on a two-day official visit to UAE as part of a regional tour that will take him to Bahrain and then India to take part in the 3rd India-Africa Forum Summit.
