(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said Tuesday that his country is pinning hopes that international contacts with the Syrian opposition will lead to "positive" results.
At a news conference, Lavrov said that Russia continues contacting with moderate opposition of Syria.
Russia and Egypt are working on forming a unified delegation to represent the Syrian opposition so as to conduct peace negotiations with the Syrian regime, he noted.
He expressed his hope that Egypt and Iran would join the talks on Syria due in Vienna next Friday, indicating that Russia has not received so far an invitation to take part in the Paris meeting to discuss means of settling the Syrian crisis.
